Shani Sheleg & Sean Shore
Got married in Evia Island
Shani and Sean have always dreamed of getting married in Greece, specifically on a sun-drenched beach. Fortunately, their vision came to life in October 2021 as a magical, intimate celebration on Evia island, surrounded by their closest family and friends. To inspire others, we asked them to share the detailed thoughts, steps, and the entire process of planning their real Greek wedding inspiration journey. Ultimately, their story is a perfect guide for anyone dreaming of a destination wedding in Greece.
Actually, the couple met under very unusual circumstances at a mutual friend’s home during a “shiva” (the Jewish mourning period). While the occasion was somber, Shani’s childhood friend introduced them on the very first day. Remarkably, they have not parted ways since that moment in Tel Aviv. Consequently, this deep connection eventually led them to seek an authentic Greek wedding story that truly represented their unique bond.
When asked “Why Greece?”, the answer for both was that it had been the place all along. In fact, as soon as they started discussing wedding plans, they both immediately agreed on Greece. Moreover, it was a dream for both of them that felt too powerful to even explain in words. Because of this, they focused all their efforts on finding the best destination wedding in Greece ideas to make that dream a reality.
During the Greek wedding planning experience, the couple had very clear priorities: the location, the food, and the quality of the alcohol. Instead of a classic wedding event, they envisioned a unique, luxurious holiday weekend shared with their best friends and close family.
What part of the planning did you enjoy the most?
“We love to dream big,” the couple shared. Specifically, they appreciated how Anat and Yonatan made even the dreams they didn’t know they had come true. Furthermore, every weekly call left them smiling and with a sense of calm, making the Greek wedding planning story a fun and exciting experience.
When it came to design, they focused on elegance and simplicity teamed up with small details that make everyone smile. Notably, they felt that the planners were literally reading their minds, designing the event in a way that fit them perfectly.
Regarding the menu selection, food was a critical part of the event. Because of Anat’s background as a chef, they felt confident in creating classic Greek dishes with a modern twist. In addition, the food exceeded all expectations, and guests are still talking about it to this day.
Selecting the right destination wedding in Greece venue was a journey in itself. Initially, they had their hearts set on the first location they saw, but it became impossible due to the increasing number of guests. However, they refused to compromise on something that was less than perfect. Eventually, the location they chose on Evia island turned out to be one of the most amazing places they had ever seen. Indeed, it provided the raw beauty and warmth they had always fantasized about for their rustic wedding in Greece.
Obviously, planning a wedding abroad can be stressful, especially with the uncertainty of Covid-19. Specifically, the skies were closed just weeks before the date, and they had not seen the venue or tasted the menu prior to the event. Nevertheless, as soon as they landed in Greece and arrived at the hotel, all the pressure was gone. By trusting their team, they were able to let go and enjoy every moment.
Tell us about the event! How was it for you and your guests?
“Wow. Wow. Wow. It is an event of a lifetime that we will never forget!”. Indeed, bringing their closest people together for an entire weekend of eating, drinking, and having fun was indescribable.
What was the most memorable moment?
It is hard to pick just one, but the moment they walked down the stairs to the first party stands out. Suddenly, everything came together—the DJ, the design, and the smiling guests. Additionally, even when it rained heavily on Friday morning, they enjoyed playing drinking games and eating amazing food indoors. Finally, the official event on Friday night was powerful, featuring the tradition of breaking 700 plates and “blowing the place away”.
To conclude, Shani and Sean’s wedding is a beautiful example of staying true to your priorities. Whether you are dreaming of a beach ceremony or a rustic wedding in Greece, their journey shows that a clear vision and the right team lead to success. In the end, your destination wedding in Greece should be a reflection of your own unique love story.
