Our couples : Or & Din

Or Tayeb (now Danino 😊) and Din Danino got married in Karpathos Island

Or and Din presented us with quite the challenge: plan a wedding in a month and a half! After a big disappointment they experienced while planning a wedding in another destination. The result was one of the happiest and most Touching wedding ceremonies we’ve planned – which means that anything is possible! So how do you plan a wedding in such a short time? Here is the story through their eyes, and ours:

Tell us about yourselves - and how did you meet?

Or and Din, both 29 from Netanya,Israel.

Or is a client portfolio manager in a Planning & Construction Advertising Agency, And Dean works at an investment bank while completing his BA in Economics and Management.

Or:
We met through a mutual friend who always wanted to set me up. On our second date, Din told me that he was destined for a position abroad, preparing me for the fact that our relationship will have an expiry date. I decided to go ahead with it anyway because I couldn’t give him up so easily, telling myself that whatever will be will be.
After a month of dating and an amazing connection, I decided that I wanted to join him abroad. We tried to think of what I could do there and Din even tried to find me a job, but no success. Then came a point when Din had to make a decision: whether to give up the job, or me. Clearly he decided to give up the job 😊 We moved in together after two months and 6 perfect years have passed since then.

How did you come to the decision to get married in Greece?

Or & Din:
We are both not fans of big events and we always knew we didn’t want a big wedding event. After the proposal we agreed on a small and modest event. We both have large families so we thought that marrying abroad will naturally limit the guest list and will make our lives easier in that sense. After some online searching we decided on Montenegro. Din loves the sea and Or loves green scenery so we thought it would be a great choice. We spoke to a travel agent and started planning everything until he suddenly disappeared, and when he finally reappeared he claimed that the flights were fully booked. We were heartbroken but Or did not give up on the dream and searched for wedding planners in Greece. That’s how we ended up finding Anat and Yonathan. Immediately after the first conversation with Anat – Greece seemed like the perfect location for us – and now we had a month and a half left to start planning!

Tell us about the wedding planning process with Anat and Yonathan

Or and Din wanted to give their guests a holiday experience that the wedding would be a part of, and not the other way around. We took into consideration a few things - Din loves to surf, so proximity to the sea was a factor, plus the time of year was borderline weather wise. We wanted to find a place with easy access, a direct flight and good weather for early/ mid-October.
Karpathos Island Immediately came to mind - a small and magical Island that met every requirement.

Or & Din:
The panic was real after the Montenegro cancellation. So first, Anat and Yonathan made sure to calm us down, which was the most important thing at that point. We discussed budget and locations and after checking several options we chose Karpathos Island. Anat and Yonathan were available for anything we needed at all times (it’s important to note that Anat was eight months pregnant at this point and still gave her everything 😊)  We had an instant connection with them from the very first moment, and the whole wedding planning process was fun and worry-free, and we know we made the right decisions choosing them!

Tell us about the wedding day - the decor, the food, the vibe, the feeling

Or & Din:
Or spent the wedding morning with her friends while Din had fun with everyone at the beach and pool. We met just before sunset at the hotel pool, with everyone watching, clapping and cheering which was very moving. We arrived at the local restaurant where the wedding took place, the chupah was decorated with gypsophila flowers and green leaves, as were the tables with the sea as a background – it was just perfect!

The food was amazing, we kept getting amazing feedback, with people even trying to recreate some of the dishes later on.

Everything happened exactly as we dreamed it would be. The photographer was amazing and the DJ who lifted the energy up with tunes in Greek and in Hebrew, everyone enjoyed themselves, loving everything and we partied and danced and just had the best time with the people closest to us. These were simply magical moments!

Or and Din are very connected to themselves and to what they want and love. We wanted to bring it the design and even the selection of the menu for the wedding. Between the natural flower design and the candles that decorated the tavern almost effortlessly, it was important for us to emphasise this also in the food choices.

That's why we chose a family serving style bringing the starters to the table allowing the guests to taste and share the delicious dishes that the kitchen has prepared. We chose to serve the main dishes personally to allow everyone to decide what they wanted to eat.

What tips would you give couples who want to plan a wedding overseas?

Or & Din:
First of all, everyone who wants to plan a wedding overseas should consider hiring a production company, it can be budget friendly, and opposite of what you might think – it can make things so much easier.

In retrospect it’s the best decision we made – as we wouldn’t have thought of half of the things Anat & Yonathan took care of, and it wouldn’t be anywhere near as perfect as it was thanks to them.

Don't be afraid to dream. Do learn to compromise. Always think outside the box!

Do you think there are advantages in planning a wedding in a short time?

Or & Din:
We think that the fact that we planned a wedding so quickly was fun because we didn’t have too much time to overthink or stress, everything had to be fast and without getting stuck on small details that at the end of the day are far less important. Doing everything quickly gives the possibility to take everything more easily, and quick decisions turn out to be the best ones.

Naturally it’s easy to say that looking back, yes it was still stressful, it was still busy and full of plans and we still didn’t sleep at night (especially Or) due to excitement, anticipation and stress, but at least it was only for a month and a half 😊

A quick wedding planning is not for everyone, no doubt about it! it has several advantages:
You could find good deals on accommodation due to availability,
You can invite only the guests you really want at your wedding and it allows you as a couple to let go of the decisions and enjoy the moment.

Share with us an unforgettable moment from the wedding

Or & Din:
There were many unforgettable moments. Seeing our guests enjoy eating, dancing in a happy vibe was both exciting and moving all through the evening.

We thought the Cupah was amazing – and we are completely objective!

Or:
There was one moment when I put the ring on Din’s finger. I didn’t plan to say anything but then I felt I had to.
I said 3 sentences, I was very moved when I said them, Din said it was the most emotional moment in the Chupah and later, the guests also said they were in tears on that moment, so I think this must be the one 😊

We think that there is nothing like a personal gesture at a wedding ceremony to create a magic moment. That's why when Or's father took the microphone and spontaneously sang a love song to which all the guests danced, this moment moved us to tears and made us feel more connected to the amazing family that was created in this unforgettable wedding, Or and Din’s family.
