Yonathan Hirschfeld and Anat Lessem, parents to Ari. We got married in Evia Island on 14.9.2017
Yonatan and I met back in 2013. At the time, I was starting an internship at a Michelin-star restaurant in Amsterdam. Very early on, it was obvious that Greece held a special place in Yonathan’s heart. Soon after, I caught his enthusiasm for the local food and culture.
While I traveled through Europe, Yonathan managed bars in Jerusalem. Eventually, he offered me a partnership in a new Greek restaurant called “Sirtaki.” I simply said yes! We worked in perfect synergy for years. However, we always dreamed of moving to Greece to build our lives there.
In 2016, during a family vacation in Cyprus, Yonathan proposed on a magical beach. Naturally, I said yes! Even without discussing it, we both knew we wanted a wedding in Greece. We wanted a special event that would reflect our love and shared experiences.
When we started the process, we looked for professional help. We began by searching for a production company, but we struggled to find the right fit. Specifically, we wanted to know how to organize a wedding in Greece that felt personal rather than corporate. Most companies only coordinated between hotels and suppliers. Furthermore, their prices did not match our vision.
We decided to take the project upon ourselves. Consequently, Yonathan focused on finding the perfect location while I handled the menu and atmosphere. We looked for beach hotels near Athens for easy flight access.
After a month, we found the Grand Blue Hotel on Evia Island. The manager, Eleftheria, invited us to visit. Evia is the second-largest island in Greece, offering amazing beaches and a supportive community. During our stay, we realized that calculating wedding in Greece costs was easier when working directly with local friends. We signed the agreement and began hiring local photographers, florists, and transport providers.
To keep things organized, we created a dedicated wedding website. This allowed our 140 guests to RSVP and book rooms easily. In addition, it saved us valuable time on logistical arrangements.
When September finally arrived, our celebrations began:
Day 1: A warm reception and a wild pre-wedding Henna party.
Day 2: A sunset ceremony where we wrote our own vows, followed by a festive meal.
Day 3: A recovery day ending with a live Greek band teaching everyone the Sirtaki dance!
Following our big day, many people contacted us for advice. Initially, they just wanted to hear our Greek wedding story. However, they soon began asking us to produce their weddings too. They realized that planning such an event alone was a massive challenge.
In 2020, we decided to fulfill our dreams permanently. We moved to Evia for good and officially launched Sirtaki Events. Today, we combine our professional knowledge with our love for this country.
If you are looking for wedding in Greece recommendations, our biggest tip is to find a partner who cares about your story. We provide the full production package that we couldn’t find ourselves years ago. Ultimately, our goal is to give you peace of mind so you can enjoy your unforgettable experience.
