Q: Tell us your process for creating a floral design to match the couple's vision and the vibe of their wedding venue
Terra Alba: Open discussions with couples are key. Understanding their vision helps us create something that truly reflects their personalities and style. Most couples trust our expertise, which gives us the freedom to be creative. Even if some couples start out a bit anxious, they always end up more than happy with the final result.
Q: If you could design a bouquet inspired by any Greek myth, which one would it be and why?
Terra Alba: We would choose a bouquet inspired by Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love. A sexy and passionate bouquet would capture her essence, with dark red roses and hanging amaranthus to add a touch of drama and elegance. It’s all about celebrating the beauty of love in the most captivating way!
Q: What’s the most unexpected flower or plant you've ever used in a wedding arrangement, and how did it turn out?
Terra Alba: One of the most unexpected flowers we’ve used was black and red anthurium. It was for a rock-themed wedding, and we really rocked it! The anthurium’s bold, dramatic look perfectly complemented the edgy vibe of the wedding, and it turned out to be a stunning centerpiece that everyone loved.
Q: What’s the funniest or most unusual request you've received from a couple for their wedding flowers?
Terra Alba: We once had a couple ask for a flower collar for their dog. It was such a fun and unique request! We loved how it made their furry friend a part of the celebration, and the dog looked adorable walking down the aisle with its floral accessory.
Q: weddings are steeped in tradition - How do you balance tradition and innovation in your floral designs?
Terra Alba: We love to keep our eyes open for new ideas and ways to innovate, but we also have a deep appreciation for the classics. Using simple, local, and seasonal flowers from the Greek countryside allows us to stay true to tradition while also adding a fresh and modern twist. It’s all about finding the right balance.
Q: What’s the ultimate thrill of being a wedding florist?
Terra Alba: We get to become part of a love story. Seeing the joy on a couple’s faces when they see their floral arrangements for the first time is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that we’ve played a part in making their day special is what makes our job so fulfilling.
Q: What’s your favorite Greek flower and how do you incorporate it into your designs?
Terra Alba: We absolutely love Greek herbs. They add a touch of freshness, vibrant greenness, and a beautiful aroma to our arrangements. Incorporating herbs like rosemary, oregano, and thyme not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds a sensory element that truly makes the arrangements come alive.
Q: What’s your secret to making flowers look fresh and vibrant throughout a long wedding day?
Terra Alba: It starts with finding a reliable supplier who provides high-quality blooms. We also keep the flowers in a cooler until the very last minute, ensuring they stay fresh. And of course, we always pray for normal weather! Mother Nature plays a big role in how everything turns out.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice or one key question couples should be asking their florist?
Terra Alba: Our advice would be simple: tell your florist your vision and just trust them. We are here to bring your dreams to life, and when there’s trust, magic happens!
