Our couples: Hadas Goldshtain & Yonatan Shelach

Hadas Goldshtain & Yonatan Shelach
Got married in Evia Island

We love giving you some inside info on our couples, how they’ve met, and why they decided to get married in Greece.
This time we spoke with Hadas and Yonatan from Tel Aviv, who got married in a special and very intimate Greek-style wedding, just as they dreamed it!

Tell us a about yourselves, and how did you meet?

Hadas & Yonatan, we’ve been together for 3 years, and we live in Tel Aviv. We both work in different  areas in high-tech companies. We love the sea, yoga and mostly traveling the world.

We met 5 years ago when while working at the same start-up company. At first we were just friends, got closer and later started dating 🙂 Almost immediately after Covid started, and shortly before the second lockdown that happened during the holidays, Jonathan decided that we are just not going to stay in Israel during lockdown, so we  spontaneously bought a plane ticket and the next day we were on our way to  Rhodes, Greece. It was an amazing experience! we travelled for two weeks in Rhodes by car and discovered hidden places that tourists don’t get  around to. Not only that but we we discovered Greece, the delicious food, the comfort, the simplicity and calmness of the place.

What was your dream wedding? And why did you choose Greece?

After our trip to Rhodes, we travelled to Greece together a few more times And fell in love with the place. We knew that we were not fans of the customary wedding concept in Israel, and began to think it would be best for us to celebrate with our close friends and family in a place that we love so much, in Greece.

We really wanted the event to spread over a few days and not just a few hours. It was important to us to stay in an intimate place that would be available only to us, with no access to outside guests. We also envisioned a Greek-style event, with the food we love, Greek music, ouzo and the traditional plate smashing. It was also very important to us that there would not be an “event production” feeling to the event and that it will have a light and simple feel to it.

Tell us about the wedding planning process

We described to Anat and Yonathan exactly how we would like the event to be, and from the very first moment everything went smoothly with complete flexibility on their part. For example, we wanted the main event, which included the ceremony, to be in the afternoon and not in the evening, which is a little different from what they usually do. In addition, we wanted one of the evenings to be in the tavern, So not all the events will be at the hotel, which turned out to be an excellent choice thanks to the tavern that Anat and Yonatan chose.

Anat and Yonathan were very attentive to all our needs and made sure we  feel comfortable and relaxed as the event approached. In addition, they were attentive to our families and helped any family member who contacted them with questions and requests.

It was very important for us to work with event producers who understood us, to be in line  with their style, personal attitude and flexibility.

What was your favorite part of planning?

We definitely loved  the part of planning the food and menus 🙂

Share with us your wedding day - the food, the atmosphere, the feeling

The wedding event lasted three days. All our guests stayed in a stunning hotel, the view  from the central pool was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel also had a farm with animals which gave the place a family oriented atmosphere and it all felt very Greek. On the first day, when the guests arrived they settled into their rooms and spent some time in the pool. Then we all went to the tavern. The vibe in the tavern was crazy, there was a Greek band that performed all evening, we danced and smashed plates, and the food was just amazing.

On the second day we got up for breakfast at the hotel and everyone went to get ready for the wedding ceremony.

The ceremony itself was on the edge of the hotel’s pool, the view was perfect and the chuppah and the design that Anat and Yonathan built were just on point. The ceremony was insanely emotional, especially since it was so intimate and we felt that all the guests got excited with us.

After the ceremony we all jumped into the pool and  from there we continued for a pool party that went on for a few hours. During the party there were food stands with insanely delicious street food and cocktails. In the evening we had a karaoke party which turned out to be a wild success. The next morning we met everyone for a last breakfast before returning home. 🙂

What would advise couples who plan to have their wedding in an intimate ceremony like yours, in Greece?

We would say, don’t think twice, go for it! We couldn’t believe how exciting and full of experiences for life this event would be. We highly recommend going out of the hotel to the tavern, it’s hard to explain in words the vibe that went on there. In addition, the choice to have the ceremony on the second day turned out to be very successful because all the guests already knew each other by then and connected with each other.

Share with us an unforgettable moment from the wedding event

When we arrived at the tavern, the band started playing and everyone started dancing at once -we could feel everyone’s excitement and joy in the air. It’s a moment we will never forget.

Would you like to start planning your wedding? we would love to hear from you!
